Pragya aparadha - the error of the intellect
If something that is eternal is seen as ephemeral and something that is harmful as useful, and vice versa, this is indicative of a lack of intellect (Pragya Aparadha), as the cause of misery. Since the intellect normally sees things as they are, the error of the intellect which is overshadowed takes the non-self for the self and the self for the non-self.
"He whose intellect, memory, and self-control are weak, submits to Pragya Aparadha and its consequences, resulting in an imbalance of the three Doṣas."
Charaka Saṁhita 1 - 102
